Trimley Red Devils was formed in 1975 with a single team of boys of varying ages
ranging between 9 and 11 with the first age restricted side being initiated in 1979
with an under 8 team. Over the years the club has steadily increased the number of
teams providing football with the most recent new age group being started a couple of
seasons ago, the Under 7's, who are currently coached on a weekly basis and do not
play league football.
Ever since the first days of football with Trimley Red Devils, games have been played
on Stennetts Playing field in Trimley St Mary although the younger age groups,
Under 8's and 9's currently play at a the nearby Trimley St. Mary School, and these
2 age groups have in the past played football at the Trimley Sports & Social Club.
Honours have been plentiful over the years with League and Cup successes with
all age groups in a variety of leagues including the Black Tiles League, Ipswich &
Suffolk Youth League, Suffolk & Essex League and the Felixstowe and District
League. Individual awards and achievements have also been abundant over the years
with many boys representing the County teams.
The Club has been successful in nurturing players and are keen to provide a step
towards football excellence with many players representing the County team and also
providing players to both Ipswich Town and Norwich City football academies and
also more recently having Matthew Bloomfield playing professionally for Wycombe
Wanderers and Jack Ainsley playing professionally for Ipswich Town.
Trimley Red Devils currently runs 12 youth teams with ages ranging from Under
6's to Under 16's along a girls side at Under 12 age group and also a Senior First
team and Reserve side. The senior side was introduced 6 years ago and plays in the
Kingsley Healthcare Ipswich & Suffolk League and comprises mainly of ex Trimley
youth players and this team has been promoted 5 times and now plays in Division 1.
Trimley has built up a strong relationship with the Velo club from Wateringen in
Holland and have been having exchange visits since 1991.
